Shelley Kais shares her story of building a team that achieved success for the party according to every metric.
She broke records for the amount of money raised, number of individual donors, number of elected PCs, and Republican voter registration. But she was targeted because of her success by groups affiliated with the Patriot Party and Yale Wishnick’s Republican Party Network.
The campaign of character assassination against her was so complete that at the last state convention, when she announced that she was withdrawing for the race for national delegate due to a broken leg, much of the Southern Arizona contingent cheered.
Shelley is incredibly competent, capable and effective. Since she left, the new leadership has lost over 100 elected PCs, almost 3000 registered Republicans (despite a national trend in increasing Republican registration), the fundraising has been abysmal, transparency reduced, and they just signed a 27-page, 7 year lease to move their HQ to the basement of a building owned by Democrats. The lease apparently highly restricts use on evenings and weekends, when volunteers would most need to use it.
But the new leaders of Pima County, including Dave and Betsy Smith, Cheryl Caswell, and Eileen Wilson were having an absolute conniption over Shelley having a voice.
State Senator Justine Wadsack called me the night before the live show to try to prevent me from hosting Shelley. In our phone call, she called Shelley the “F—ing Queen of Evil.”
I’ll let you decide who is right on this.
As I’ve been doing all across the country, I give those a voice who have been maligned and silenced, and I’m proud to do so with Shelley.
