Santa Cruz County is the smallest county in Arizona, located in the Nogales area on the border with Mexico.
Before Steve became county chair, there were 6 PCs in the county. It rarely met and accomplished little. Steve tells the story about how he learned applied servant leadership as he led his volunteer county to radical growth and big changes.
Steve launched his tenure by teaching his PCs Robert’s Rules of Order and the bylaws. He taught them basic civics. And they started to get involved and making meaningful contributions in local government.
He now has Republican candidates in races where Republicans haven’t bothered to run in very long time - and in some cases, Democrats are actually helping his candidates with their races!
